 Welcome to My Website

Hello. I'm Carol Smilgin. Thank you for visiting my website.
My second novel, "Provenance", has just been published and is available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, the iUniverse website and local bookstores.

It is a tale of romantic suspense that plays out on an international scale as the heroine, Rebecca Lawler, searches for a list her late husband reportedly kept of art dealers and agents who continue to profit from the sale of confiscated art stolen by the Nazis during WW II.   View the book trailer here!
According to Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, provenance means "origin, source, the history of ownership of a valued object or work of art or literature." Both Rebecca and her husband, Jeffrey, were significant art collectors, and on his death, Rebecca inherits several paintings that had once belonged to Jeffrey's grandfather. Two, however, have incomplete provenances.
Rebecca enlists the help of Georges Lartigues—a provenance expert from Paris—who, begins mapping out a plan to solve the mystery.
The trail leads them from Belgium, Holland and France, across the Bay of Biscay to the art galleries in Madrid, through the salons of Lisbon and Paris, to the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. But just as Georges finds the key to the missing piece of the puzzle, Rebecca suddenly realizes that the same people who killed her husband have targeted her for death too.
I hope you enjoy reading it. Please feel free to contact me.
