Hello! It's nice of you to stop by. My apologies for being so delinquent by not updating this site or commenting on my blog sooner. Health and family issues took precedent for awhile.
As you know, my name is Carol Smilgin and I'm a writer. That hasn't always been the case, however. At 13 — as an assignment for English class — I handed in a story about several U.S. airmen who, during WWII, go on a mission to fly over Europe, land behind enemy lines and see if they can find why some of our planes are disappearing. They do, but are subsequently discovered and shot, but not before radioing their findings to the USA.
Perhaps I've harbored the desire to write all along but never acted on it seriously until after I retired.
Before moving to Cape Cod in 2002, I lived in Manhattan for 53 1/2 years. I began my professional career as a neurological nurse then switched to working as an "Industrial nurse" for a corporation before having two children. Following that, I did a three year stint as an assistant to a clothing designer, and, after twenty-three years at the job, finally retired as the facility manager/construction coordinator of the Spence School—a private girl's school in Manhattan. A wealth of material for novels, wouldn't you say?
As it happens, I've written three. The first, "Love Was a Stranger," is in its final revision and, hopefully, will be published within the year. What's it about? A marriage, a very handsome stranger, and a career gone wrong. My second was Provenance--the bio and trailer of which are given on my home page. My third, "Concerto," was finished last year and for the moment is "resting".
Thank you for checking in. Please leave a comment in my blog. Would love to hear from you.
